LEAP at “Central School”

Scoala Centrala

On March 19th 2009, our team had the chance to expose its NGO virtues in a top educational environment. I’m talking about a special event organized by the Central School, a top school in Bucharest, called “The European educational space and the world crisis”. This is an anually-organized conference where professors, students and clerks from the ministry of education come together, debate and find solutions to issues of the Romanian educational system.

We soon found our place as an initiative which gives thought to the coherence between what we get from the formal education and what the professional environment asks from us. Thus we suggested to teachers and high school students alike to take non-formal education into account, as a solution to this problem. Radu and Diana C impressed the audience with their professional presentation and with their coherence. Moreover, the Employability Guide was skimmed by all participants with great curiosity!
We proudly received diplomas of excellence from the organizers! But even more rewarding was the professors’ wish to collaborate with LEAP in the near future – the fact that LEAP can have an impact at the highschool level matters a lot.

START Internship launch and lunch

Today START Internship’s program for 2009 was launched.

Start Internship

We were there, too, and we cannot help but feel joy towards the fact that Romania’s youth has so many programs to benefit from.

The program’s mission is to help students secure quality positions through trainings and internships. LEAP truly appreciates their initiative and, together with Cristina Ionescu, project manager of START Internship, consider that there is no real place for competition between Romania’s NGOs as there are so many possibilities to benefit everyone involved in nonformal education practices.

Good luck in 2009 as well, Start Internship!

PS: Excellent pastry!
