Ne bucurăm să anunţăm lansarea Student Institute for International & Global Affairs, SIIGA – şi vă invităm pe această cale să vă alăturaţi iniţiativei, accesând http://siiga.org.

În prezent, SIIGA recrutează studenţi voluntari din regiunea Balcanilor care să participe la activitatea think tank-ului. Voluntarii vor lucra alături de membrii actuali, pentru a promova şi a dezvolta SIIGA şi misiunea acestuia pe parcursul anului universitar 2009-2010. Studenţii interesaţi sunt încurajaţi să trimită un CV şi o scurtă scrisoare de intenţie (două paragrafe, aplicaţia în limba engleză) la adresa members@siiga.org. Termenul limită pentru trimiterea aplicaţiilor este 25 Octombrie, 2009. Candidaţii selectaţi vor fi contactaţi în termen de două săptămâni de la această dată.

SIIGA este un think tank la nivel internaţional, non-partizan şi non-profit, a cărui misiune este aceea de a aduce ideile tinerilor mai aproape de procesul politicilor internaţionale. Motorul acestei iniţiative sunt chiar studenţi ai Universităţilor din Balcani, aparţinând diverselor medii academice, interesaţi de probleme globale curente, cu caracter politic, economic sau social. Susţinând dezvoltarea tinerilor, SIIGA reprezinta un mediu în care aceştia pot da glas şi îşi pot împărtăşi opiniile asupra aspectelor de politică externă, implicându-se în dezbateri cu alţi colegi şi făcându-şi cunoscute ideile către factorii de decizie din regiune.

SIIGA îşi propune să contribuie la o abordare comprehenshivă a aspectelor legate de problematici la nivel global şi internaţional. Pentru a-şi urma viziunea, SIIGA oferă membrilor săi acces la o bază de date online care cuprinde ştiri şi analize din domeniile politic, economic şi social. Unul dintre pilonii centrali ai SIIGA este un jurnal anual pe problematica politicilor externe, publicat online, care cuprinde articole ale studenţilor. Acest jurnal este distribuit instituţiilor academice, organizaţiilor nonguvernamentale, şi entităţilor politice din regiune. Dorinţa noastră este aceea de a extinde focus-ul şi în afara Balcanilor, pentru a creşte interesul asupra problematicilor globale, pentru a promova o comunicare extinsa între tinerii din regiune, a implica studenţii în dezbateri academice, a le stimula creativitatea şi pentru a le oferi şansa ca ideile lor să capete glas.

Inspirat de studenţi, SIIGA lucrează pentru studenţi. Tinerii merită să li se ofere mai multe oportunităţi pentru a învăţa şi pentru a avea un cuvânt de spus, astfel încât să îşi folosească la maximum abilităţile şi potenţialul. SIIGA înţelege aceste nevoi şi astfel, serveşte atât ca sursă de informare, cât şi ca forum pentru discuţii care să vină în întâmpinarea acestor nevoi.

[lang_en]We are pleased to announce the launch of the Student Institute for International & Global Affairs, SIIGA, and to welcome you to join us at http://siiga.org/.

SIIGA is currently recruiting student volunteers from the region to assist in our work. New staff members will work together with current members to promote and develop SIIGA’s mission throughout the 2009/2010 academic year. Interested students are encouraged to send a CV and a short motivation letter (not more than 2 paragraphs) to members@siiga.org. The deadline for submitting applications is midnight on October 25, 2009. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 2 weeks.

SIIGA is an international, non-partisan, not-for-profit student think tank devoted to bringing young people’s policy ideas to the policy process. The driving force of SIIGA are students from diverse academic backgrounds at universities in the Balkans who are interested in current global issues of political, economic and humanitarian character. Working to advance youth empowerment, SIIGA is a medium for young people from the Balkans and beyond to voice and share their views on foreign policy matters, to engage in provocative debates with peers, and to make their ideas known to policy makers in the region.

SIIGA is dedicated to contributing to a comprehensive insight into the world of international and global affairs. To comply with this vision, SIIGA provides its members with access to an online database of global political, economic and social news and analyses. A central pillar of SIIGA’s work is the publishing of an online annual journal on foreign policy issues that compiles short papers by students and is distributed to academic institutions, non-governmental organizations and political bodies in the region.

Our hope is to place the focus outside the Balkans, to increase interest in global issues, to promote greater communication between the youth in the region, to engage students in academic debates, to stimulate young people’s creativity, and to give their ideas a voice.

Inspired by students, SIIGA works for students. Young people deserve to be given more opportunities to learn and to have a say so that they could make full use of their true abilities and potential. SIIGA understands those demands and serves both as a source of information and a forum for discussion in order to meet them.
